What is the
difference between ground chili
peppers and chili powder? Chili
peppers are just that: chili
peppers that have been dried,
then ground into a powder. Chili
powder sometimes is a blend of
herbs and spices. The blend
consists of 70 to 80 percent of
ground chili peppers to which
other herbs, spices and possibly
salt are added. Chili Powder
blends vary from spice company
to spice company and may contain
cumin, coriander, oregano,
onion, allspice and/or salt. |

Mustard is one of
the oldest culinary and
medicinal spices. The name
mustard comes from the Latin
mustum ardens or burning must.
This spice was so named because
the seeds were pounded with
grape juice or must and the
marriage of the two pungent
ingredients developed, hence
burning. |
